smarTrike Wind+

Only Available at Baby Bunting

The Wind with more on it. A low step-in frame so they can climb in themselves, detachable pedals and footrest, and the same patented 360° one-handed steering as the rest of the range.

From 10 months to 3 years.

Low step-in design. The step-through sits lower than the Wind's, so a toddler learning to get in and out can do it themselves instead of being lifted every time. Less lifting for you, more independence for them.

Adjustable child handlebar. Moves as they grow, so their hands are in the right place at 12 months and still in the right place at three.

Detachable pedals and footrest. Off while you are still pushing, on the moment their feet reach. One trike, no compromise at either end.

5.9 kg and folds in seconds. Light enough to lift one-handed, folds with no tools and nothing to detach. Suitable for carry-on on many airlines, though cabin limits vary so always check with your airline before travel.

Certified as a stroller, not a toy. Tested to meet applicable stroller safety standards, with a 5-point harness, a safety bumper bar with press-button release, a front wheel shock absorber and a one-touch rear brake.

The same patented steering. 360° one-handed control with parent and child options, from guided rides through to independent steering.

Stroller mode. From 10 months. Harnessed and supported, pedals off, you steer from the parent handle.

Trike mode. Once they can hold the handlebars. They ride and you keep control, with the child handlebar set to their height.

Training mode. Pedals and footrest go on as their feet reach. They power the trike, you guide direction from behind.

Free riding. The parent handle comes off and the trike is entirely theirs to steer and pedal.

There is no fixed age for each switch. Follow your child rather than the calendar.

The entry range, with more on it

Built for the bit where they want to do it themselves.

A low step-in frame they can climb into, a handlebar that moves as they grow, and pedals that come off until their feet reach. The Wind+ is made for the stretch between being carried and riding away.

Why it exists

The in-between year

Somewhere between one and two, a toddler stops wanting to be put into things and starts wanting to get into them. That is the year the Wind+ is built for. Everything it adds over the Wind points the same way: less lifting from you, more doing from them.

A toddler stepping into the smarTrike Wind+ low step-in frame

Low step-in design

They climb in. You stop lifting.

The step-through sits lower than the Wind's, so a toddler learning to get in and out can manage it themselves. It sounds small until you have done it eight times in a morning.

  • Lower frame to step over
  • Less lifting on and off through the day
  • Safety bumper bar with press-button release
Toddler riding the smarTrike Wind+ with the adjustable child handlebar

Adjustable child handlebar

The right height at one and at three.

The child handlebar adjusts as they grow, so their hands sit where they should through the whole two and a half years rather than only at the start.

  • Adjusts as they grow
  • Parent and child control, from guided rides to independent steering
  • Patented 360° one-handed steering for you
smarTrike Wind+ with the pedals and footrest fitted

Detachable pedals and footrest

Off until they reach. On when they do.

Pedals stay off while you are still pushing, so there is nothing for small legs to catch on. They go on the moment their feet reach, and the footrest comes with them.

  • No tools to fit or remove
  • Footrest for the years before pedalling
  • One trike, no compromise at either end

Seat, harness and canopy

Comfortable to sit in, simple to secure.

A 5-point harness, a 2-stage extendable canopy for sun and weather, and seat fabrics a step up from the Wind. Designed to meet applicable stroller safety standards rather than toy standards.

  • 5-point safety harness
  • 2-stage extendable canopy
  • Safety bumper bar with press-button release
Front wheel shock absorber on the smarTrike Wind+

Shock absorber and brake

Smoother over rough ground.

A front wheel shock absorber takes the jolt out of kerbs, tram tracks and cracked footpaths, with a one-touch rear brake so you can park on a slope without holding on.

smarTrike Wind+ folded down and ready to carry

5.9 kg, folds in seconds

Light to carry, quick to pack.

At 5.9 kg the Wind+ lifts one-handed, and the compact fold is suitable for carry-on on many airlines. Cabin baggage limits vary by airline, fare type and aircraft, so always check with your airline before travel.

  • Folds with no tools
  • Fits a boot with the luggage already in it
  • Many Australian carriers also check prams free at the gate

10 months to 3 years

One trike, four stages

It changes shape as your child does, so you are not buying a pram, then a trike, then a balance bike.

Using it more than that?

When to step up to the Wonder range

The Wind+ is built for travel and occasional use. If this will be out most weeks rather than most holidays, look at the Wonder range: better seat fabrics for hours in the seat, upgraded wheels for daily kerbs and rougher ground, and a sturdier frame built to still feel solid at year three. The Wonder max is also the only smarTrike suitable from 6 months, because its seat reclines to 140°.

Questions

What parents ask before buying

What is the difference between the Wind and the Wind+?

The Wind+ adds a low step-in frame so your child can climb in themselves, an adjustable child handlebar that moves as they grow, and detachable pedals with a footrest. It also uses slightly better seat fabrics. Both weigh under 6 kg and share the same patented steering, safety bumper bar and 5-point harness.

What age is the Wind+ for?

From 10 months to around 3 years. Your child needs to be able to sit up unaided. If your child is younger than 10 months, the Wonder max is the only smarTrike designed for them, because it is the only one with a reclining seat.

What does the low step-in design actually do?

It lowers the frame your child has to step over to get in and out. A toddler who is learning to do things for themselves can climb in without being lifted, which means less lifting for you across the day.

Why do the pedals come off?

Before your child can reach the pedals, they are just something for small legs to catch on. The Wind+ pedals and footrest detach without tools, so you take them off while you are still pushing and fit them the moment their feet reach.

How much does the Wind+ weigh?

5.9 kg. Light enough to lift one-handed with a child on your hip.

Can I take it on a plane?

The compact fold is suitable for carry-on on many airlines. Cabin baggage limits vary by airline, fare type and aircraft, so always check with your airline before travel. Many Australian carriers also allow prams and strollers to be checked free of charge at the gate.

Is a stroller trike as safe as a pram?

The Wind+ is designed to meet applicable stroller safety standards rather than toy standards, which is the higher bar in child mobility products. It has a 5-point harness, a safety bumper bar with press-button release, a front wheel shock absorber and a one-touch rear brake.

What warranty do I get in Australia?

Every smarTrike product purchased in Australia comes with a 2 year warranty, in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Shipping is free Australia-wide, dispatched from our Melbourne warehouse.
